Plastic water bottles banned from set of Grey’s Anatomy

cast of Grey's Anatomy dressed in black
The set of the hit show Grey’s Anatomy has banned plastic bottles. Something every production should be doing. It’s sets a good example and its something very simple we all can do to go green. Each cast member was issued a thermos. You would think they could buy one on their own, but they are so busy just like real hospital workers (yea right :)

The thermos says ‘Grey’s Anatomy Season 4′. I bet they can sell these too and make more money off the hit show too…

Natalie Portman named best vegeterian celebrity

Natalie Portman celebrity vegetarian
Natalie Portman named best Vegetarian by VegNews 2007 Veggie Awards. Portman has been a vegetarian since a child - 17 years. She won’t even wear leather jackets!

Going vegetarian is not only cruelty free and more ethical, it helps with the environment as less energy and resources are consumed in production. Right now we have to grow food to feed all those animals we eat. This is wasteful and then we also add more greenhouse gases, more habitat is lost for farming, and there is soil erosion… At least cut down on the animal intake!

Alicia Silverstone’s Sexy PETA Ad

Alicia Silverstone’s Sexy Veggie PSA
Order a FREE vegetarian starter kit at GoVeg.com

Alicia Silverstone’s sexy new ad definitely attracts attention. PETA is definitely trying a different tact here. There is no way they would be able to show pain and suffering that animals have to go to come to our plates in a commercial. Just because cows and chickens aren’t as cute as our cats and dogs doesn’t mean they don’t suffer… Would you eat your dog as they do in China sometimes? Where do you draw the line?? Would you eat a monkey? How about flipper?

We know have the technology to have animal for every meal without an afterthought, but we also have the technology to be good vegetarians now. For a lot of people on this earth and through most of history we got by fine without meat for every meal…

You can just live on pasta and cheese pizza with mushrooms and spinach. Yum!!

Eco living tips by Hollywood

The Green Book CoverThe Green Book – The Everyday Guide to Saving the Planet, One Simple Step at a Times is guide to over 400 small things you can do in your lifestyle that will make positive effects on the Environment. What is unique about it is that it features contributions from celebrities. There are many of them who are setting a good example in the way they live.

We are the bad guys this book rightly points out. Americans waste twice much water and energy as other global citizen. We make 4.5 pounds of trash everyday per person. This at a time when global resources are becoming scarcer as populations rise. Something’s got to give.

We can be the change if we simply change our habits. There are many practical easy simple solutions in this book without sounding too preachy. Use cloth shopping bags, you don’t need all those ATM receipts, turn of the tap water while you brush, unplug devices when charged, use less paper napkins, rid yourself of junk mail, no more plastic utensils, user refill containers…

The book is broken down into small pieces so you won’t feel overwhelmed. It’s perfect for that coffee table in an office waiting area where perhaps others can learn from it!
