Artifex Shirts is a recent startup t-shirt company founded by two brothers, Tim and Chris Reagen. All their clothing is 100% organic cotton.

Artifex sells womens and mens hoodies, polos, and t-shirts.

Through organic cotton, billions of pounds of pesticides can be diminished. Regular cotton uses the 4th most fertilizers and 3rd most pesticides out of any crop! This is unneeded! Plus organic cotton does feel better than conventional cotton.

Artifex shirts also donates $3 from every shirt to help construct a windmill in St. Francis, North Dakota. The Bonnet Wind Farm there will be completed of late 2008 and million watts of electricity.

Patagonia is the most eco friendly apparel manufacturer. They have a material they named Capilene which is made of recycled polyester. Patagonia has also set up a program where you can bring in their clothes when you get bored of the style and they will recycle it into new garments. They have recently added organic cotton t-shirts, Polartec fleece and Patagonia fleece to the list of recyclables.

Patagonia helps out a Land Trust in South America where they are trying to conserve habitat with endangered species. Patagonia has sent employees to help with conservation efforts by for example sending them for 3 weeks in the spring and summer to pull fences and help with invasive species…

Patagonia buildings are also going eco friendly. Their new buildings are LEED certified by the U.S. government as green designed and energy efficient. They go with water efficient landscaping, reduce construction waste, use materials with recycled content among many things.
