Indigenous Designs is an eco friendly online shop that is stylish and contemporary. Unlike other indigenous clothing makers who are not!
Most of their fashions are made of organic cotton, alpaca, silk, merino wool, and tencel. They work with environmentally-friendly dyes too. Garments are typically made using one of three carefully selected methods: hand-knit with needles, hand-held knitting looms and hand-woven looms.
Each garment is hand-knit entirely by an individual as part of a small knitting group in their community, not in a factory. They also support and preserve fair trade wages and artisan cooperatives.
Indigenous also utilizes green energy to offset their carbon footprint, offers employee carpools and employee incentives to buy hybrid vehicles, and formed Green Steps-a program to offset the carbon footprint of trade shows.
They are made in countries such as Peru and Guatemala. Indigenous is more than just an organic clothing company!!

I love eco-friendly fashion and there are some very cool new techniques and designers. For instance, did you know leather there is a new leather process? Or, a cool new fabric that looks like linen and is antimicrobial?
I found some great new designers and techniques in an article that is as interesting as this one is.

The designs shown in this article look really beautiful. I am sure my wife would love to wear clothes like this and I would enjoy seeing her in such clothes. These days everybody seems to be trying to do something good for the environment and my family is no exception. So I shouldn’t have been surprised when my wife started talking about green fashion. While I care about the environment as much as the next guy, that seemed a bit extreme. In my mind, words green fashion conjured up images of potato sack like clothes made of hemp or some such material. But my wife was persistent and did a lot of research online to find what she wanted. She found a site, www.luxgreenliving.com, which she really liked. It sells really beautiful, fashionable, modern looking clothing made from organic cotton at very reasonable prices. I have to say that this site and all the other sites that sell eco fashion are doing a great job by helping women feel comfortable and beautiful, while at the same time caring about the world around them.
