I was going to say it’s a bit pricy, but $249.85 sounds a bit more reasonable

IMO, it is quite useless. The only situation you can use it is when you’re having picnic.
December 30th, 2008 at 10:00 pm |
Well the lower price sounds better, I can’t wait until this kind of stuff is more readily available, and maybe even less bulky. Thanks for the post and the $$ research.

What a brilliant idea. Anything that uses natural energy resources when it comes to technology is a good thing in my book.
January 14th, 2009 at 6:11 pm |
Interesting idea, pretty expensive though! And it looks kind of big. I love the thought behind it. Hopefully it will get smaller as technology improves.
January 15th, 2009 at 3:54 pm |
This is one of the coolest things I have seen. I would love to have this on my many adventures where my cell phone dies. It would be great to be able to know I have a source of power for my electronics. I might have to save up for this one. Thanks for sharing.

Looks great and I could certainly do with one to keep my laptop charged up during summer holidays. It would be good if it was a little cheaper though.

Well, that should be a great way to save some electricity. However, I don’t think that you will be able to use it fully indoors though. But I do agree if you’re so into outdoor adventure, you will definitely have more use for it. But who would want to bring a laptop while camping anyway?

I think the Solar Gorilla is finally available in the U.S. now as I’ve seen it on sale at a couple of web stores(Solar Gorilla). Even though these don’t come with a battery source to store a charge, it’s very heartening to see the options as far as alternative energy chargers grow. With a little bit of market traction, these solar chargers will begin to retail for next to nothing — and really, at a price of $280, (which is what it’s on sale for at Ecogeekliving.com) I’m sure they’re well worth their price over the course of the product lifetime.
February 23rd, 2009 at 12:00 pm |
Wow..what a nice way to charge computer batteries— Solar power. A little heavy on the pocket though. But oh well. If I have the money then why not?
February 24th, 2009 at 7:33 pm |
What a cool invention! Why didn’t I think of that. It is a little costly and probably not great for everyday use but it is a step in the right direction. Nice find!

Ha! I thought this was a USB powered George Foreman grill when I looked at the picture! What a great idea! Obviously the USB port will let me plug in any device with a USB charger, including my phone and Bluetooth earpiece. Is the manufacturer offering any discount vouchers? While I have been in some remote areas and needed to charge my laptop, the price does seem high to me. Discount codes would go a long way to having one of these chargers become part of my standard travel gear. I am just looking for an excuse to get one.

Wow,
I just found this site and have to comment on this!
In my opinion being conscious about the environment and shopping (aka consuming) are quite contradictory. solar powered charges is terrible for the environment. It is a gadget that will not get much use and will end up in a landfill. Besides making this stuff takes far more energy than it will ever save.
Makes me sad…

Whoa, very cool! It looks a lot smaller and more compact than the other solar chargers I’ve seen out there. Lots of them are big and bulky and definitely anything but travel sized.
A little pricey but if you work on the road like I do, it sure seems like it would be handy.
April 20th, 2009 at 6:49 pm |
Wow, that does look pretty cool. My laptop runs out of battery so quickly, I can hardly get anything done when outside or away from a plug. Looks useful, but a tad expensive.

This is very cool, we have a freeloader which is similar but smaller which we use for charging the mobiles an i-pod, this will be helpfull for when the laptop goes flat if your not near a plug
June 18th, 2009 at 6:09 am |
So far, it doesn’t look like anyone has hit the perfect balance of affordability, power output and portability with these devices. This Gorilla looks like it’s aimed at the market that is less price sensitive. I hope they do OK in this economic climate.
I would love to see companies market laptops based on their power consumption. My wife bought an Aspire netbook recently and I was amazed at what it could do while sucking less than half the juice of a typical laptop.

Good idea, but at £137, I can’t really see the incentive not to just buy a spare laptop battery, and spend the change on the electricity needed to charge it up.
Solar panels are fairly inefficient at the moment - hence why solar powered cars aren’t that popular. Will be a good product once the technology has advanced a bit.

The use of asbestos is usually against the law but many properties predating the particular ban possess large ranges lining the walls and also ceilings for a fire resistant padding. A few forms of asbestos fiber are believed pretty risk-free when in tact however the moment it results in being damaged or perhaps actually starts to grow older; it could relieve fatal fibres into your air creating deadly illnesses including Mesothelioma or Asbestosis.

A small gucci handbags breakfast-room adjoined the drawing-room. I soon possessed fake gucci handbags myself of a volume, taking care that it should be one stored with pictures. I mounted into the window-seat: gathering up my gucci 2011 handbags feet, I sat cross-legged, like a Turk; and, having drawn the red imitation gucci handbagsmoreen curtain nearly close, I was shrined in double retirement. Folds of scarlet drapery shut in my gucci wholesale handbags view to the right hand; to the left were the clear discount gucci handbags panes of glass, protecting, but not separating me from the drear November day. At intervals, while turning over the leaves of my gucci replica handbags book, I studied the aspect of that winter afternoon. Afar, it offered a pale wholesale gucci handbags blank of mist and cloud; near a scene of wet lawn and storm-beat shrub, with ceaseless buy replica gucci handbags rain sweeping away wildly before a long and lamentable blast.
