The founder of the Body Shop, Anita Roddick 64, passed away of natural causes last Monday. She opened with just one small store and grew her company to over 2000 stores which where eco friendly before it was fashionable.
Greenpeace director, said Roddick was an “incredible woman”, the prime minister of UK said “She campaigned for green issues for many years before it became fashionable to do so and inspired millions to the cause by bringing sustainable products to a mass market.”
The Body Shop, witch sells of beauty, body, and bath products, has always sought to be allied with eco friendly values and human rights from its beginnings in 1976. They were one of the first to be against animal testing, buying ingredients from local communities while doing it with a stylish image. They have also founded a human rights award and invested in renewable energy…
The Body Shop has been bought in recent years by the French L’Oreal but it operates independently. It was Riddick’s hope that the small company can teach its new parents eco friendly values of human rights, animal rights, and the environment.
