Finally a magazine for the eco chic environmentalist - PLENTY

Plenty Plenty Magazinehas been around since January 2005. It is like many consumer lifestyle magazines except it revolves around the sustainable lifestyle. There are helpful tips on fashion, nutrition, travel and other lifestyle topics. It is aimed at the “environmental consumer”.

Plenty’s tagline is—

If we make the right choices we can have a world of Plenty

I could not agree more. Consumerism does not have to be wasteful! We also need consumerism to create jobs and live a more comfortable life. What I also like about Plenty magazine is that it covers a lot of products and services that are stylish or in fashion. It is almost like typical womens or mens magazine except that there are articles about the environment, politics, and corporate responsibility mixed it.

In the New York Times article on Plenty, it points out that most consumers have lives based on sex and shopping. Where is the environmental movement for these people. Sex is used to sell every imaginable product. Plenty does it with environmentalism and sex!

Some of the issues even had models. Yes eco friendly design can go hand in hand with beauty! For too long eco-consumerism has been associated with being frugal and simple.
You can buy cool hybrid cars, eat organic food and wear sexy designer clothes and wear organic make up. The people who love and want these things are being under served.

Buying fashionable clothes and goods in “Plenty” abundance is still looked down upon by the real environmentalists but I think they will buy into the eco consumerism lifestyle soon enough.

Plenty is offered bi monthly and is available at Whole Foods or subscribe for

What a fantastic concept - sustainable consumerism. This is the first time I have come across ‘Plenty’ and I will get a copy.

Pushing environmental issues out there, right next to sex and shopping, is the way to go. And yes, the myth that ‘green’ and ‘organic’ mean simple and frugal is just that - a myth.

I am totally organic. This evening we will have dinner with 100% organic ingredients, That will be followed by some organic wine and organic chocolate - and plenty of it.
